Popular Central artiste, Cortez says music lovers in Ghana should appreciate the efforts of Ghanaian artistes working tirelessly to keep the industry running.
According to Cortez, he doesn’t understand why Ghanaians tend to adore and appreciate artistes from other parts of Africa and the world and neglect their own.
Cortez told Dj Nat Bubu on The Xclusive Chat on Osagyefo Fm that, he believes Ghanaian artistes have done remarkably well to gain the recognition of the world, but Ghanaians fail to take note of that.
“…there are Ghanaian artistes who have become such huge iconic musicians in other people’s land that Ghanaians should be proud of. They see artistes from other African countries, and I don’t know what they think. Their (Ghanaian] artistes have already done that and still doing that so we should appreciate our own.’
Responding to claims that Ghanaian artistes are arrogant, the ‘Oy3 Time’ hitmaker disagreed and stated that our artistes have rather been taken for granted for far too long.
He added that our society sometimes prevents artistes from expressing themselves in creative ways and anyone who tries to do this is labelled as arrogant.
‘Ghanaian artistes are not arrogant at all. The country has made them dull because they are not allowed to express themselves. Anytime you express yourself, they say you are proud….Ghanaian artistes over respect.’
Cortez further indicated that young artistes of today are not given enough opportunity to showcase their talent like before.
‘…lot of opportunities are not given to the new guys to exhibit what they have.
Cortez is still currently promoting his new single, ‘Oy3 Time' which is gaining much airplay on the radio. The ‘Boss of Team Yaaba Na Yaaba’ asked fans to watch out for the video of ‘Oy3 Time’ which will be shooting soon.
‘I would love to be a legend…’
